Groundhog Teapot In-Progress 3 (most current version)
Changes to fur, added teeth, and cleaned up edges to resemble more of a teapot shape.
Will go back and add more of the teapot to image,
and also add "props" to indicate connection between groundhog and teapot
(read more in "My Comments" below)

Groundhog Teapot In-progress 2
Added more teapot imagery (left handle, base, and fill line),
added more fur to give a uniform appearance, used different groundhog head,
made fill line transparent to allow fur to show through.
The 1st original Groundhog Teapot
from
the last Class In-Progress

My Comments:
The two drafts above are coming along but I still have a lot more to do on them.  I have yet to put it in vectors but I will be working on that part this afternoon.  The major difference between these two drafts and my first is that I went back and incorporated more of the teapot imagery into my original idea.  I added the teapot base and handle, and merged the "teapot fill line" with the groundhog's fur.  I also concentrated on making the shape of the groundhog more like that of a teapot (it had a rough, "cut and paste" look to it before, and it still does but hopefully in a much neater format).
I intend to add some "extra props" such as a shadow at the base of the teapot, "spring tea" sitting nearby, a calendar marked with groundhog day, and the prediction of 6 more weeks of winter to come (in which case someone WOULD want a nice, hot, cup of tea from their groundhog teapot).  I will continue to work on making the connection between the groundhog and the teapot more obvious (perhaps in more of a commercial-like way) I may need to incorporate some text into my piece to get my idea across.

  1. Hey Shannon

very nice work here. great start. still not quite sure about the relationship or concept of the groundhog/teapot, but technically coming along very well. consider the environment you might place this in--maybe it will help with why the combination.
